Heirloom Restaurant Group Presents: Thanksgiving Sides & Salads

Making your Thanksgiving dinner less stressful, we are announcing Thanksgiving sides and salads, leaving you with just the turkey to worry about. This year, we will be offering a selection of sides, salads, and desserts to make your Thanksgiving a bit easier, allowing you more time out of the kitchen and with your family.
Thanksgiving Menu Options:

Salads: $20 – Serves 6
  • Spinach salad from the Communal menu
  • Farro & kale salad w/pomegranates
Sides: $16 – Serves 6
  • Brussels sprouts with cranberry chutney
  • Roasted sweet potatoes with sage & maple syrup
  • Mashed potatoes (you will need a little butter/milk/cream to reheat them with)
  • Stuffing with housemade sausage
  • Turkey Gravy by the half deli container (16oz)  –price to be decided
Dessert: $18 – Serves 6
  • Pear upside down cake w/whipped cream
  • Apple crumble w/whipped cream
  • Add Salted Caramel sauce to either Dessert  –$5

Orders can be placed by emailing  All orders need to be placed by Saturday, Nov. 21st and will be available for pickup at Communal on Wednesday, Nov. 25th between 3-9pm.

Our friend Suzanne Kershisnik will now only be seen at Communal enjoying a meal with family or friends as she is stepping over to Catering Co. for her next Heirloom gig.  Goodbye Suzanne!  Oh, hello Suzanne!  By the way, we think you look great in that chair by the window with several of your delightful kiddos, Noah, Eden and Leah.

Catering Co. at Sun River Gardens

Catering Co. had the privilege of serving a celebratory feast for the Uintah Utes Drill Team who won the State title at last Saturday’s competition. The celebration, though low key, was held at the beautiful Sun River Gardens nursery in Orem.

While it was dark and quite chilly outside, the guests stayed perfectly warm and cozy inside as they nestled down to enjoy hot, wood-fired pizza among the thousands of potted spring flowers.  The sweet smell of the blossoms, the sound of the water features and the soft chirping of the dozen parakeets in the bird menagerie would have set the perfect mood for a beautiful wedding, but on this night, served as a great reward for the long hours and hard work the drill team put in preparing for their win. Our congratulations go out to all the talented young women!

Our thanks to Sun River Gardens for providing this beautiful venue.  When planning your next event, we highly suggest checking out the Garden Room at Sun River Gardens.  Rain or shine, the nursery is a beautiful place to commemorate any occasion.  See more information or phone and ask for Scott or Tanya.

The Cafeteria Co. Partners With Vivint!

Did you know that Heirloom Restaurant Group has been working to infuse our local and sustainable commitment into the corporate workplace around Utah for the past two years?  Operating as Cafeteria Co., we began managing the employee cafe at MonaVie in summer 2010, and then the employee cafe at Vivint in July, 2011.

At Cafeteria Co., our mission is ever present in our minds and always visible to our team and guests.  That’s our mission to:

Build community in partnership with companies that value their employees and recognize a place of work is another home.

Provide nourishment through delicious, fresh and locally sustainable foods to energize people in body and mind.

Create common ground in places where people gather to develop relationships and generate new ideas.

That mission is the driving force for Heirloom’s Jason Talcott as he directs the efforts of his Cafeteria Co. team in the Vivint employee cafe. We’d love to share a bit of Jason’s vision and philosophy:

My goal with Heirloom Group’s new venture, Cafeteria Co., is to break the mold of managed food service and cafeterias in general. I think there is room in the market for a company that does business a bit different and that pushes the boundaries of what cafeteria food is. That’s not to say that I want the food to be avant garde or ultra cutting edge. We need to stay true to the Heirloom philosophy of fresh, sustainable and approachable. However we want to do it better, fresher and in a more inviting atmosphere than anyone else. We want to develop deep relationships with our clients, to not only give them amazing, beautiful food, but to do it in a way that is both ethical and creates a sense of community.

As we grow this portion of our company, I envision a business that meets the needs of its clients by maintaining the small company feel of a one-off, chef driven concept. A company that is driven at the unit level by the creativity of its on-site chef and the desires of the client rather than a corporate formula; the only mandate being that we create beautiful food that is sustaining, nourishing and remarkable for both its simplicity and care with which it was prepared.

We sure hope to continue serving our community at work and at play for many years to come!
